Dental Implants

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots, typically made of titanium or zirconia, that are surgically placed into the jawbone to support a replacement tooth, bridge, or denture. They provide a permanent solution for people who have lost one or more teeth due to injury, gum disease, decay, or other reasons.

Types of Implants

Endosteal Implants

  • The most common type.
  • Surgically placed directly into the jawbone.
  • Made of titanium, shaped like small screws.

Zygomatic Implants

  • A complex option for patients with severe bone loss in the upper jaw.
  • Implants are placed in the cheekbone (zygoma) rather than the jawbone.

Subperiosteal Implants

  • Placed under the gum but above the jawbone.
  • Used for patients who do not have enough healthy jawbone and cannot undergo bone grafting

Basal Implants

  • Anchored into the cortical (basal) bone, ideal for patients with extreme bone loss.
  • Immediate loading is often possible.
